Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
