Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
